MY FAVORITE DANCE TRADITION.....

  • There are three main types of local dance traditions.
    • Up Country dance Tradition
    • Low Country dance Tradition
    • Sabaragamu Country dance Tradition

  • Out of these three traditions, my favorite dance tradition is low country dance tradition.
 


  • This dance tradition is prevalent in the Southern Province.
                     
  • The main instrument of this dance tradition is the Yak Beraya. This drum is also known by other names.
                    • Goshaka Beraya
                    • Ruhunu Beraya
                    • Dewol Beraya
                    • Dik  Beraya 
                    • Mihingu Beraya
  • There are many shanthikarma in this tradition. We can see the lots of Madu Shanthikarma, Yak Shanthikarma and Bali Shanthikarma are in low country dance tradition. They are, 
          • Dewol Maduwa 
          • Sanniyakuma 
          • Gara Maduwa
          • Riddi Yagaya
          • Bali Yagaya
          • Mahason Samayama
          • Kolam Nataka.
  • In this dance tradition you can see the dance elements with beautiful poetry singing. Meanwhile, my favorite dance from is the Lichchavee Dance. The singing there is so beautiful. 
  • the costumes of this dance tradition are also impressive.

  This Pinkam is organized by our dancing class. This Dhanamaya Pinkama is done in the month of January before the start of the new year classes. Before we do this Dhanamaya Pinkama the class is painted and cleaned. The older students in the class participate in the class cleaning work and parents also help. This dhanamaya pinkama has been held every year for three years now. The monks are brought in by playing hevisi.  At the last dhanamaya pinkama, we offered a casket to the temple.🙏 Many children in the class will attend this day. It is hoped to hold this Dhanamaya Pinkama and receive blessings befor the start of classes.

But some men behave like women over time, and some women behave like men. Such people change their genitals. These are known as transgender people. About 0.5- 1.3% of the world's population is identified as transgender. Such people can be found in every country and mostly in India and Pakistan. It is natural for someone to become transgender. This should not be seen as a bad thing. But many in today's society see this as a mistake and blame it. They are also persecuted by their families. ''GAMIRANGA ABHIMAN'' Dancing Competition 💃💃🕺🕺.....

                                      Gamiranga Abhiman is a dancing competition organized by our Institute of Dance Studios. The competition is organized by Gamitha Sir and Nuwan Sir, two dancing class teachers. The dance competition started in 2017 and has been held 3 times so far. This is held every year and at the end of the year it was a platform to showcase the talents of the dancing class students. Competitions are held according to the age group of the children in the class and the best dancer is selected.  Age group between 6 and 7 years. Age group between 8 and 9 years. Age group between 10 and 11 years. Age group between 12 and 14 years. Age group between 15 and 17 years.
